SRM University appoints Dr Sandeep Sancheti as vice chancellor

Dr Sandeep Sancheti who was the director of National Institute of Technology Delhi (NITD), has been appointed vice chancellor of SRM Deemed University, Chennai. His prior experiences proved manifold benefits to the many institutes that appointed him under various respectable designations. His works are bespoken across India; the places where he has worked include NITD Delhi, NITK Surathkal, NIT Calicut, NIT Goa, NIT Puducherry, NIT Sikkim, and other popular universities in Tiruchirappalli, Jaipur and other cities.

A recipient in Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship under Colombo Plan, obtained his BTech (ECE) from Regional Engineering College, Warangal (now NITW) and MSc Engg from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU), then received a PhD from Queens University of Belfast, UK. Dr Sancheti began his professional career at MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, as assistant professor in the Department of ECE in 1984 and moved to Malaviya Regional Engineering College, Jaipur (now MNIT) as associate professor in 1990.

The awards and achievements received by the present SRM vicechancellor include the SERC Fellowship by DST, Government of India in 1998 and UKISTRF Award by the British Council in 1999-2000. Apart from receiving globally recognised awards, he has also published over 75 research papers in national and international journals and conferences. His knowledge and expertise also got him invited to Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, as a faculty for a semester. He was chairman of NIMCET, an all India MCA entrance test, chairman of Central Counseling Board and chairman, Direct Admission of Students from Abroad scheme of MHRD, Government of India. He was also a member of Microsoft India Academic Advisory Board. Currently, he is also the vice president of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) New Delhi.
