AMMK button missing on EVM, sparks protest

Polling was stopped at a booth in Thiruvadigai near Panruti in the Cuddalore parliamentary constituency after a voter, who could not find a button against the AMMK’s candidate Kasi Thangavel on the EVM, alerted the poll officials.
By the time, 387 of the 657 voters in the booth had cast their votes. AMMK supporters gathered soon and demanded repolling in the booth. A team of paramilitary forces arrived at the booth and removed the partymen. Polling resumed after four hours in the booth while the AMMK’s supporters continued their protest outside. The party has decided to take a legal route insisting for repolling at the booth and initiating action against the erring poll officials.
