UAE’s education ministry eases equivalency criteria for Indian degrees

In a relief to the Indian nationals seeking jobs in Gulf countries, the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has released an official statement raising no objection to make Indian degrees equivalent to UAE degrees to pursue a job in UAE. “The Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates has come to know that the word “external” in the mark sheet reflects the method of evaluation and not a place of study and notifies that it has no objection to equivalence those degrees that meet all other certificate equivalency criteria,” stated the official statement. After reviewing the ‘Action Plan for Academic and Administrative Reforms’ issued by the University Grant Commission, the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi informed Indian community in UAE that the ministry will evaluate the job applications that were previously rejected on the grounds of eligibility criteria.

“The applications that were rejected previously, will be reviewed and equivalency letters would be issued after meeting all other certificate equivalency conditions,” read the statement. Due to rejection of multiple applications by the Ministry of Education, UAE, the embassy has requested the Indian aspirants to co-operate as revision of applications may take time.
