‘Why was Vijaya Bank merged with BoB?’

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday questioned the need to merge Dakshina Kannada-based Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda.
Speaking to reporters at Mangaluru International Airport on his way to Udupi, Mr. Kumaraswamy asked: “Was Vijaya Bank suffering a loss?”
Opposing the move to hand over the operation and maintenance of Mangaluru International Airport to a private company, the Chief Minister asked why it should be done when the airport is not operating under loss.
He said that the Congress president Rahul Gandhi will also campaign in Mangaluru for April 18 Lok Sabha election. It will be either before April 13 or after that.
