Doctors advise those infected with Covid-19 to avoid fireworks
Chennai:14.11.2020
From allergies and burns to perforated ear drums, fireworks during Diwali have always sent a section of people to hospitals. This year, amid the Covid-19 pandemic that primarily affects the lungs, doctors are discouraging their use.
“People with any respiratory illness face additional distress due to the smoke and fumes from fireworks and have always been highly vulnerable. Maintaining safe distance from smoke and fumes or staying inside homes is recommended for them,” said D Nageswaran, a ENT specialist, Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre. Doctors are hence advising those exposed to coronavirus to exercise caution as they may have suffered lung damage. TNN
