Six doctors begin fast

Six government doctors began an indefinite fast on Friday, on the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, to draw the government’s attention to their demands, including implementation of pay band-4 at 13 years of service.

S. Perumal Pillai, one of the doctors, said the protest would continue till the government called the Federation of Government Doctors Association for talks and resolve the issue.

‘They have also called for a State-wide token strike on August 27 barring emergency services.
