Payment claim false, says doctor
P. Balaji, professor and head of the Department of Minimal Access
Surgery at the Madras Medical College, has refuted “baseless and false
news” carried by certain sections of the media regarding alleged
payments made to him by the State Health Minister.
In a statement, he pointed to reports that said Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar had paid him Rs. 5 lakh through his personal assistant, which he allegedly used to settle hotel bills.
“I would like to refute the baseless and false news. I affirm that I have not received any money as fee or otherwise, as alleged,” Dr. Balaji’s statement read.
