Salary hiked for nurses

12,000 nurses will benefit
The State government has increased the monthly pay for contract nurses from Rs. 7,700 to Rs. 14,000. This would benefit 12,000 nurses receiving consolidated pay.
According to a press release, the State government appointed nurses on contract basis to work in primary health centres, government hospitals and government medical college hospitals on a consolidated pay of Rs. 7,700 a month. They were absorbed into regular service depending on vacancies.
In the release, Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar said the hike would be implemented with retrospective effect from April 1, 2018.

They would also receive an annual hike of Rs. 500 and would be covered under the Employees Provident Fund scheme.
