UDUPI: The body of nurse Hazel Jyotsna Mathias (28) of Kuthyaru village in Udupi district, who died under suspicious circumstances in Saudi Arabia last week, may be brought to India within 15 days.

The delay is attributed to the investigation by the Jeddah into her death, Hazel’s neighbour Joseph D’Souza told Express on Saturday, “her untimely death is still a mystery. But now our efforts are concentrated on bringing her body back here.”

“Her husband Ashwin Mathias is still unable to come to terms with the reality. We through MLC Ivan D’Souza have contacted officials of the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The officials of Indian Embassy have told that as the police are investigating the case. It may take another 15 days for releasing the body from the hospital,” D’Souza added.

“She was not mentally weak to take such an extreme step and moreover she had no reason to commit suicide,” a relative of Hazel told TNIE. The Indian Embassy too has not got the information about the reason behind her death.
