Chinese med expo opened in Chennai

Picking up the pieces of the relationship with India, since the Doklam freeze, China opened one of the largest exhibitions, Zhejiang Export Fair (India), hosted by department of commerce of Zhejiang province at the Chennai Trade Center.
With more than 100 stalls, nearly 60 medical appliance companies from Zhejiang presented the advanced technology in manufacturing medical appliance in Zhejiang. Zhejiang commerce department deputy chief Zhuang Jin said it’s the first time that Zhejiang is holding a large medical appliance exhibition overseas.
“The products range from diagnostic services, materials and consumables to equipment for special purposes,” she said.
She hoped both countries benefit from the trade.
India is among the top 20 countries in the world on healthcare spending, valuing 10 billion dollars and over 70% medical appliance are imported. With an annual growth rate of 12%, it is predicted that 500 thousand medical beds will be in need in next 5 years.
Organisers said Zhejiang exhibitioners Indian experts will talk about the market needs, access and rules on medical appliance in India to companies from China.
Senior doctors, hospital owners and paramedics were seen holding meetings with companies to chart out needs and services.
