Ahmedabad:  14.07.2018

A 25-year-old woman from Kadi town in Mehsana district filed a police complaint against her husband and mother-in-law after they allegedly forced her to eat food containing onion and garlic. A follower of the Swaminarayan sect, the complainant said that dietary imposition is against her faith.

The woman claimed that when she refused to eat the food containing onion and garlic, she was assaulted by her husband and in-laws. Later, when they allegedly barred her from speaking to her mother, she went ahead and filed an FIR with Santej Police in Gandhinagar on July 10.

Police have booked the woman’s husband, Ronak Patel, and mother-in-law for voluntarily causing hurt, domestic violence, and criminal intimidation. TNN
