RedTaxi entry revs up competition in city

Customer is clearly the king when it comes to quality of service rendered by call taxi operators in Tiruchi city.
The competition has indeed been made tougher with the latest entry of Coimbatore-based RedTaxi.
Ola has already made its presence felt in the city. A year back, the Southern Railway launched app-based service operated by Ola at the Tiruchi Railway Junction. The facility has helped passengers to book their rides without having to negotiate fares. Services are being made better through technology integration. RedTaxi with its luxury class A/C cars has begun its operation with a competitive rate for services that encompass GPS tracking sysem, printed bills in cars, multi-pin mobile chargers, newspapers and magazines, and credit and debit card payment. After Madurai and Erode, RedTaxi has set foot in Tiruchi to tap the potential for tie-up with educational institutions, said Senthil, Manager, RedTaxi.
The existing players that, more or less, have similar technology-based features, are not exactly unnerved. Representatives of long-time players including Friends Track and Fast Track say there will be no threat to their existing business as long as there are repeat customers.
Their presumption is that the predominantly owner-cum-drivers of the cars in their fleet will be more courteous towards customers. Thereby, the ‘cause and effect’ factor in customer satisfaction is more visible for smaller players, they explain. In any case, there has been steady booking for most of the long-time call taxi operators from crporates, and there are no signs as yet that the trend will change, they say.
