Sexual harassment charge against RDO

The Judicial Magistrate No. 1 Court, Attur, directed the police to register FIR against M. Selvan, Revenue Divisional Officer, Attur, on sexual harassment complaint preferred by a woman.
Police sources said that a woman of Ammanpalayam village near Attur approached the RDO seeking patta transfer for her land last year.
The officer was alleged to have sexually harassed the woman in his office room way back in October last year. She preferred a complaint in this regard with the Attur Police and also submitted petitions to the higher officials.
As no action was taken in this regard, she moved the Judicial Magistrate Court, Attur.
Judicial Magistrate N. Sivakumar on Tuesday directed the Attur Police to register case against Mr. Selvan within 24 hours.
However, the Attur Police, when contacted on Wednesday evening, said that they were yet to receive the court order.
