Tirunelveli doctor tests positive for H1N1

TIRUNELVELI, OCTOBER 14, 2018 00:00 IST

Swine flu symptoms seen in his family too

Four of a family, including a doctor couple working with the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the hospital with symptoms of swine flu, since Friday night.

“While one of the four patients has tested positive for the H1N1 virus as per the analysis done by a private lab, we are waiting for the blood sample analysis reports of the remaining three. To reconfirm, we have again sent the blood samples of the doctor, who tested positive for swine flu (to King Institute, Chennai). They are stable as we have already started the appropriate line of treatment,” said S.M. Kannan, Dean, Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.

This is the first instance of H1N1 infection in a southern district this year after two persons succumbed to swine flu in the Nilgiris.
