Agra: A female staff of JN Medical College & Hospital of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has alleged that someone took her pictures from a mobile phone through a vent while she was changing her dress before going in for a surgery in the operation theatre in the SOT complex on Thursday.

Women resident doctors and students of the Medical College subsequently filed a complaint with the Vice Chancellor on Friday alleging that modesty of female doctors has been outraged at workplace.

According to the complaint, the victim had immediately informed her colleagues and they went to the next floor where the vent was open, but did not find anything. “This incident has scared us,” stated the women doctors in the complaint. They claimed that this set up has been present for the past many years and authorities must have been aware of it but still no action has been.

They stated, “We approached the concerned authorities to file an FIR but to no avail.”

Women resident doctors and other female staff have demanded a detailed inquiry and action into this matter.

“If the University does not take any action, then it will be difficult for us to resume duties in such an environment,” read the complaint.

Meanwhile, Resident Doctors Association (RDA) also demanded strict action into the matter and threatened to stop working if no action is taken in the next 24 hours.

When contacted, principal of the medical college, SC Sharma said that the vent was covered once it was brought to their notice. He said that the victim has not filed a formal complaint for registering a FIR. However, the complaint has been forwarded to the Medical Superintendent of the college for further action.
