INDORE: Revising its minimum standards and procedures for award of PhD degree as per UGC regulations 2009, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) released admission instructions making it compulsory for national eligibility test (NET), GATE and MPhil qualifiers to appear in PhD course entrance examinations from this year.
However, candidates qualifying NET with junior research fellowship will be exempted from PhD entrance examination.
DAVV executive council had approved amendments and sent them for approval of apex higher education regulatory body in state - coordination committee that further gave its nod on recommendations.
On Tuesday, varsity administration released ordinance 18 and instructions for admissions to PhD course that were approved by coordination committee recently.
Among other changes, the varsity has reduced time of examination from three to two hours, qualifying marks in the entrance examination have been increased from 40% to 50%, a combined entrance examination will be held for PhD and MPhil courses and only regular teachers will be able to become supervisors.
For candidates taking admission in PhD/MPhil courses in 2015, entrance examination is scheduled to be held on September 1, whereas last date for submitting application form is August 24.
Results will be declared on September 12. Coursework classes will begin from October 5.
Entrance test shall comprise one multiple choice objective type paper comprising one hundred questions of one mark each covering all basic papers of Post Graduate courses concerned of two-hour duration to assess fundamental knowledge of the candidate. There will not be any negative marking.
