CHENNAI: Chennai airport will soon be following seven other airports in the country by scrapping the stamping of hand baggage tags by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the airport, according to Chennai Airport Director G Chandramouli.
He told Express that a team comprising senior officials from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and CISF would be carrying out inspection so that the possibility of a security breach can be ruled out once the stamping of tags is done away with.
“Chennai had missed the bus as the team could not carry out inspection due to Cyclone Vardah,” said Chandramouli, who along with the Regional Executive Director was honoured by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in New Delhi recently for effectively tackling the effects of cyclone that hit the coast of Chennai.
