Plane hits KIA runway lights, flights affected

There was high drama at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here late Friday night when a SpiceJet aircraft hit the runway lights after landing. The runway was shut for nearly 40 minutes, disrupting more than 10 flights.
However, no one was injured in the incident. The SpiceJet aircraft SG 1238 from Hyderabad landed at around 10.30 am. While taxiing towards the terminal, it damaged three runway lights. The runway was closed from 10.47 pm to 11.28 pm, according to BIAL officials.
In another statement, a SpiceJet spokesperson had this to say: "During landing roll, the aircraft veered off to the left and was aligned to the central line by the pilot. It taxied normally to the bay. However, runway lights got damaged." According to the airlines, all the passengers and baggage were deplaned in a normal manner.
The runway closure forced the diversion of 10 flights. Of these, eight flights were diverted to Chennai, one to Tiruchirapalli and another to Coimbatore. No passenger was injured. The aircraft also suffered no damage, according to SpiceJet.
