CHENNAI: The doctors at the Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital recently removed a 12.6-kg malignant tumour from the abdomen of a 57-year-old woman, according to a statement issued by the hospital management on Monday.
Dr TR Gunaseharan, Dean, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, said in the statement that Amala, a school teacher from Durga Nagar, Chromepet was suffering from stomach ache for the last five years.
“After testing the patient, doctors found huge malignant abdominal sarcoma tumour has spread from her kidney to lungs.” the statement said, adding that they decided to immediately remove a tumour. “After a 4.5-hour surgery, she was safe and was discharged after four days,” the statement said.
