Due to poor admission, five Tamil Nadu government school teachers to be transferred

Since there was insufficient enrollment in Namakkal and Rasipuram government schools, five Post Graduate (PG) teachers were transferred day before.

NAMAKKAL: Since there was insufficient enrollment in Namakkal and Rasipuram government schools, five Post Graduate (PG) teachers were transferred day before. The general counselling for teachers' transfer were commenced from 12th of this month across the state.

Over 600 teachers from Namakkal district had applied online for a transfer. According to the School Education Department (SED), as many as 17 higher secondary school headmaster posts, high schools headmaster posts, 25 PG teachers post and 20 graduate teachers posts were vacant. In this situation, the counselling for PG teachers were conducted in government Higher Secondary School (HSS) in Namakkal (South) and Rasipuram government school on Friday.

Owing to poor admission in Rasipuram government school, according to the CEO P Usha's order, four PG teachers were shifted to Namakkal North, and Namakkal girls HSS, Velakavundanpatti, Kozhikalnattham and another one from Namakkal HSS to Vittampalayam respectively. In each and every subjects, two PG teachers have been posted for the last 25 years at Namakkal south school and Rasipuram government school. Where as, lacking sufficient students' enrollments in recent years, one PG teacher post in each subjects are reduced.

Moreover, class XII board examinations results also were very poor in the two schools. In this situation only, the five PG teachers were transferred. When Express contacted SED officials they said that already the state government has decided to transfer excess teachers from government schools to fill the vacant. On the other hand, during the counselling session, five PG women teachers did not want to get promotions as Head Master (HM).

Through this refusal, the five cannot avail any promotions for the next three years. In the last year too, six teachers did not show interest in HM posts. " Though the HM post are vacant in Tiruchengode and Namakkal government girls school, no one female teacher from Namakkal district comes forward to obtain it. It is learnt that many teachers have been hesitating to become HM.
