State bus runs over seven on UP e-way

Six students of a training institute and their teacher were killed while three were injured critically after being run over by a State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Taalgram area of Kannauj on Monday morning.
The driver of the SRTC bus, who managed to flee from the spot after the accident, was later arrested and sent to jail.
Uttar Pradesj chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi expressed deep condolences and announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the family of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
The deceased have been identified as Mahesh Kumar Gupta, Mithilesh Kumar, Abhay Pratap Singh, Nikhilesh, Vishal Kumar, Jitendra Kumar Yadav and Satish and their teacher Vijay Kumar.
According to police, the students and their teachers, who were on an educational tour to Haridwar-Rishikesh from Khalilabad, were standing by the roadside in Taalgram area after their bus ran out of diesel when a speeding SRTC bus coming from the opposite direction ran over them.
Goswami said the bus driver was arrested and sent to jail.
