Wait gets longer for in-flight connectivity

You may have to wait longer for making calls and going online when flying. The government’s muchawaited in-flight connectivity plan is getting delayed—possibly by around a year—as concerns over security as well as other procedural aspects have temporarily scuttled the move.
While the telecom ministry was initially expecting the measure to be rolled out soon, fresh developments have meant that neither telecom operators, nor aviation companies, will offer services immediately.
Telecom minister Manoj Sinha said “there may be a year’s delay”. Top ministry officials said a key concern is regarding the use of “international gateways” that connect to telecom and internet services. TNN
