Govt site lists CBSE result dates, but board mum

MUMBAI: Confusion over announcement of CBSE classes X and XII results continues to keep students and parents on the edge. If rumours over imminent announcement on the social network and messaging applications were not enough, result dates put up on an authentic government-hosted website have made them all the more jittery. To add to the confusion, CBSE officials have refused to confirm the dates on the website.

On Saturday morning, students shared links and screenshots of the site—www.result.gov.in—which stated that CBSE was to announce Class XII results on May 25 and those for Class X on May 27. The website is developed and hosted by National Informatics Centre, Government of India.

"The website hosts results from across boards. So when there was news that the result dates had been announced, we thought it would be true, but there was no information from the board," said Trishit Banerjee, a Class XII student of Birla School, Kalyan. School principals, too, said they were awaiting official confirmation from the board before spreading the word among students.

CBSE officials that TOI spoke to only said the results can be expected early next week. "We will first announce Class XII results and then Class X," said an official who did not confirm the dates.

Last year, Class X results were announced on May 20 and Class XII on May 26.

The board does not announce a date for declaration of results to limit the hype.

Anxiety over CBSE results this year is higher among schools, students and parents owing to the tough Class XII papers.

"The Mathematics paper was very unexpected. Even if you had solved papers from the past 10 years, you wouldn't have been able to solve the problems. While teachers have told us that the checking is going to be lenient, we don't know how it will be possible in a paper like Mathematics," said Banerjee.
