MBBS exam delayed by 3 hrs

Students of Government Medical College, Patiala, and Gian Sagar Medical College kept on waiting for almost three hours for their MBBS final year exam of ENT to begin at Patiala Medical College today as invigilators failed to reach the examination centre on time. The paper which was supposed to begin at 8.30 am started at 11.30 am causing great inconvenience to the students.

As per rules, the students were supposed to reach the centre half an hour before the beginning of the exam. Even though all students reached the centre in time at 8 am, the two invigilators- Dr LM Garg of Maulana Medical College, Ambala, and Dr Rathore of Agroha Medical College reached the examination hall after three hours. They said though they had reached Patiala on time, they could not find the exam centre since they did not have the contact number of the college authorities. Similarly, the college authorities also did not have the contact numbers of the teachers following which they could not coordinate.

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in order to check the practice of cheating and assure that no one could approach the examiners seeking any favours has made a new rule according to which an invigilator is informed about the centre only a day before the exam.

Vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr Raj Bahadur said the university would look into the matter. “We are dealing with a large number of examiners and sometimes small hiccups arise. However, we will find out what caused the delay," he added.
