Result rumour makes CBSE students anxious

AHMEDABAD: CBSE students in the city were an anxious lot on Thursday after rumours spread that the class X results would be out on Friday. Students and their parents kept calling schools to know if the results were to be out on Friday but there was no confirmation.

Every year, CBSE students pass through such anxious moments before the result day as the central board does not announce beforehand the date on which the results are to be announced.

The principal of a CBSE school said, "Since morning, students and parents began calling up the school to know about the results but we were not aware of the date. We even checked the website but found no instruction to this effect. The board never communicates to the schools or through the media about the result date."

Even officials in CBSE regional office in Ajmer were unaware about it. "The date of the result declaration is finalized by our head office in New Delhi. We are not involved in the process of finalizing dates. We inform our New Delhi office when the results are ready and Delhi officials then choose a suitable date to declare the results," an official said.

CBSE schools in Gujarat come under the administrative purview of the board's regional office in Ajmer. An official there admitted that he had received several calls from parents and even school authorities seeking to know about the possible date of results.

However, officials in Ajmer office said that the class XII science and commerce results would be declared by May 25 while the class X result day would be any day in May last week.
