S. Manian has assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University.
Dr. Manian, former head of Department of Botany, Bharathiar University, takes over from Shiv Das Meena, senior bureaucrat who was appointed Administrator after the Government took over the controversy-mired university in 2013.
Dr. Manian, with over 18 years experience as professor, was previously head of the Department of Botany, Bharathiar University where he is credited with launching an MSc bio-informatics course. The new Vice-Chancellor’s mandate would include bringing in probity in administration, especially in financial management.
Annamalai University had been in the doldrums when the Government decided to take over the institution and appointed an administrator after passing the Annamalai University Act, 2013.
