PUDUCHERRY:A three-member team from the Medical Council of India (MCI) carried out an inspection at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI) on Friday. The institution was started with 150 seats in 2010 and the first batch of students are waiting for the recognition.
The team led by Dr Manoj Singh, Professor of Pathology, AIIMS, arrived after authorities informed the MCI of having addressed the deficiencies pointed out earlier. The council had directed the college to get adequate books in the library, set up a fully functional Blood Bank, establish an auditorium, staff quarters and meet the shortage in faculty. Accordingly, a state-of-the-art CT scanner has been installed and the library is stocked with necessary books. A blood bank has also been set up. Similarly other recommendations were fulfilled.
The team went around inspecting the 750 bed hospital, diagnostic equipment, faculty and would verifying the records to see whether it complied with MCI norms.
