Madras univ controller of exams quits

TIMES NEWS NETWORK   23.03.2018

Chennai: Professor M Srinivasan, the controller of examinations (in-charge) of University of Madras, has resigned on Thursday. He will continue to be the HoD of criminology department. Professor K Ravichandran, associate professor and head in-charge of analytical chemistry department, has been appointed as the COE (in-charge), but on a full-time basis.

The resignation was as per the decision of the university syndicate that there should be a full-time CoE. Srinivasan had to quit one of the two posts. Sources said Srinivasan resigned from the CoE post to attend to the regular teaching and research activities in the department.

Ravichandran has resigned his syndicate membership before taking up the CoE’s position.

The decision of the syndicate comes at a time when professor S Karunanidhi holds the post of HoD of psychology department and director-in-charge of Institute of Distance Education (IDE). Srinivasan held the in-charge post for one year. During the period, the university unearthed some exam scams. On the flip side, last month there were complaints about delay in despatching degree certificates.
