CHENNAI: A Chennai-Delhi Air India flight was delayed by more than two hours after a pilot and an aircraft engineer had a difference of opinion which ended up in a fight inside the cockpit on Saturday.
Sources said that the plane which had arrived from Mumbai was scheduled to take off at 9.45am to Delhi but developed a technical snag.
Though an aircraft engineer rectified the snag, the pilot was not convinced and refused to take off. This led to a difference of opinion between the pilot and the aircraft engineer which ended in a scuffle, said an Air India official.
The pilot and the engineer are injured. The aircraft is an A319, which is a relatively new plane.
The fight between the pilot and the engineer happened when the technical team went inside the cockpit to compel the pilot to take off as scheduled.
An Air India official said that pilot was changed and the plane departed by around 11.45am.
The incident would be investigated, the Air India official said.
A pilot said that pilots were authorized to reject a flight if they found it was unsafe to fly after a technical snag.igating the case.
