Guv takes note of woes in Chitlapakkam

Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit has taken cognisance of Chitlapakkam residents’ complaints about accumulation of solid waste in the locality after a peition was submitted in Raj Bhavan and has agreed to visit the area to take stock of affairs.

“The governor’s office responded that he will visit Chitlapakkam sometime during the week,” said Sunil Jayaram, a Chitlapakkam resident.

Anticipating the governor’s visit, Chitlapakkam town panchayat authorities undertook clean up measures and fixed potholes in the locality’s roads. Purohit was expected to stop over at Chitlapakkam on Tuesday. However, collectorate sources told TOI that it was not part of his itinerary. Chitlapakkam residents told TOI that they hoped Purohit would grant them an audience. “We need to highlight the pitiable condition of Chitlapakkam lake to the governor,” Jayaram added.
