City univ establishes earth science, tech cell

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chennai has set up an Earth Science and Technology Cell (ESTC) for marine biotechnological studies at Col Dr Jeppiaar Research Park, Centre for Ocean Research.
The centre was established in collaboration with National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and Centre for Marine Living Resource & Ecology (CMLRE). M Rajeevan, secretary, ministry of earth sciences inaugurated the ESTC in the presence of the institute’s prochancellor Dr Mariazeena Johnson.
Director of NIOT M A Atmanand, and director of CMLRE M Sudhakar, said the collaboration, apart from offering technical guidance, will help students explore cruise possibilities. TNN
