53,000 apply for 4,400 med seats in state

More than 53,000 students have submitted hard copies of MBBS/ BDS application to the selection committee as the last day of receiving applications ended on Friday. Tamil Nadu has around 4,400 medical seats, including 2,250 MBBS seats in government colleges and 2,150 in self-financing colleges.
Using the online facility, 39,013 candidates applied under the state quota and more than 29,007 for admissions under government quota seats in self-financing medical colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr M G R Medical University.
The rank list is likely to be declared on July 2. Tentative date of declaration of rank list is July 2. The first phase of counselling is likely to begin by July 15 and colleges will open by August 1 and admissions will close by August 18.
