‘Killer’ of UP Bar Council chief dies

The lawyer accused of killing the first woman chairperson of UP’s Bar Council, 38-year-old Darvesh Yadav, on June 12 succumbed to his injuries in a Gurgaon hospital on Saturday afternoon. Manish Sharma had suffered a massive brain injury after he shot himself in the head and was taken to a local hospital in Agra following which he was brought to Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon on the night of June 12.

“Sharma remained on life support and died at1.20pm on Saturday,” said a source. Lawyer Sharma, who shared an office with Yadav in the Agra district and sessions court, had close ties with her for over a decade.

Police said they will hand over the body to his relatives after a postmortem.

Agra police had lodged an FIR against Sharma, his wife Vandana Sharma and another lawyer Vineet Gulecha under IPC’s section 302 (murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 507 (criminal intimidation) on a complaint by Yadav’s nephew. TNN
