BENGALURU: A scene similar to one in Bollywood flick Munna Bhai MBBS, where actor Sanjay Dutt clears an exam with the help of earphones, was recently recreated in the city, with a slight change in the script. A 33-year-old woman writing the second division assistant exam was caught with a wireless earphone she was using to communicate with a friend outside.

Renuka Kadam of Dharwad in North Karnataka was writing the competitive exam conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) at Al Ameen College near Lalbagh on June 16.

Renuka is a homemaker and her husband Anand Kadam works with a private company. Room invigilator Rajkumar and additional invigilator Rizwan heard a strange noise coming from Renuka’s direction and approached her only to find the wireless earphone covered by her hair.

Soon, a woman staffer from Al Ameen College was summoned to frisk Renuka. “The patdown revealed she was communicating with a person standing outside the college, using a sim-enabled device hidden in her dress. She had answered around 20% of the questions before being caught. By then, the person outside had switched of his mobile phone and fled,” police said.

Soon, Wilson Garden police arrived and booked Renuka on different charges, including IPC Section 420 (cheating), and under the Information Technology Act.
