Cases filed against MCI notifications withdrawn
The Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday permitted the chairman of an educational trust to withdraw two writ petitions filed by it challenging the notifications issued by Medical Council of India (MCI) on March 10 for conducting a common State-wide counselling on the basis of merit list of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for “all admissions” to undergraduate as well as postgraduate medical courses in “all medical educational institutions.”
Justice V. Parthiban granted the permission with liberty to the chairman of Padanilam Welfare Trust based in Kanniyakumari district, to move the Supreme Court.

Earlier,
it was brought to the notice of the judge that the apex court was
already seized of a similar case filed by Christian Medical College
Ludhiana Society which had highlighted lack of clarity over the right of
minority educational institutions to admit students after the
introduction of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
