Apollo Hospitals recently launched four specialty clinics to mark International Women’s Day.
The facility, Apollo Cradle, now includes a high-risk pregnancy clinic, besides clinics to treat urinary incontinence, sexual health problems and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Gynaecologist Jaishree Gajaraj said 30 years ago, women above 35 years of age or whose with diabetes or hypertension or who had undergone kidney transplant were advised to opt for adoption. “Now, we give them an opportunity to have babies. We have even helped women with breast cancers have safe childbirth,” she said.
The other clinics inaugurated were also closely associated with conditions surrounding pregnancy, doctors said. The sexual health clinic will treat problems associated with sexual dysfunctions. At least 40% of men and 30% of women have sexual dysfunction requiring treatment, doctors said. Similarly, around 30-40% women suffer from incontinence. Urogynaecologist Alpa A. Khakhar said the clinic would also treat prolapse of bladder, uterus and rectum
