Gang breaks open ATM near Madurai, escapes with Rs 1.95 lakh

MADURAI: An unidentified gang broke open an ATM near Vadipatti in Madurai district in the early hours of Tuesday and escaped with Rs 1.95 lakh. The gang used a gas cutter to break open the machine.

The theft took place in an ATM kiosk belonging to India1 in Iyyankottai village around 2am. Police said the gang made use of the location of the kiosk. It is located outside the village and nobody uses it in the early hours of the day.

On being informed by the customers, India1 officials informed the Vadipatti police.

The police reached the spot and conducted investigations. A dog squad was also swung into action.
