CHENNAI: Indian students will be able to study medicine in Russia and undergo summer clinical training in home country as the Kazan State Medical University plans to tie up with leading medical universities and hospitals in India.
Kazan State Medical University of Russia will sign pacts with leading medical universities and hospitals, including the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Apollo Hospitals, and Sri Ramachandra Medical University (all in Chennai) and Jipmer (Puducherry).
The aim of the pact is to help its Indian students get familiarised with clinical conditions and the relevant treatments advised in India and gear up for their further studies/practice on their return to the country.
"The summer clinical training in India will allow Indian students of our institute get hands on experience and exposure that will enrich their knowledge in diagnosing the ailments when practising in India. This apart, our tie up will also focus on faculty exchange, student exchange and joint research programmes to offer the students wide scope of learning and institution enrich its programs," said Dr Alexey Stanislavovich Sozinov, chancellor, Kazan State Medical University, Russia, at a press meet organised at Russian Cultural Centre, Chennai, on Wednesday.
A high level delegation from the Kazan State Medical University, led by the chancellor, would visit All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Medical Council of India and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (all in Delhi).
