Patna doctors save flyer after mid-air heart attack

A 28-year-old flyer with 100% blocked main artery was saved by doctors in Patna after he suffered a cardiac arrest mid-air on a Bagdogra-Mumbai flight on Friday.

IndiGo non-stop flight 6E-3175 had taken off from Bagdogra at11.50am and was scheduled to land in Mumbai at 3.10pm. The man, who was travelling alone, complained of acute chest pain around 1.15pm and a cardiologist on board informed the pilots through the cabin crew that it appeared to be a heart attack.

“The flight, cruising at an altitude of around 32,000ft, was crossing over Patna... Our pilots instantly contacted the ATC, seeking permission for unscheduled, emergency landing,” an IndiGo executive told TOI. After securing permission, the flight touched down at Patna airport at1.30pm.

Doctors administered lifesaving emergency drugs to the patient and immediately shifted him to a hospital and performed angioplasty. “Without wasting time, we sucked out the clots. The patient, now conscious, is doing well,” a doctor said.

Thai man dies on Bangkok-Delhi flight
Varanasi:

A Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight (088) from Bangkok made an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi after a Thai passenger fell ill on Friday. The passenger, Athawat Thougkasson, was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Thougkasson was travelling to Delhi along with his friends. Airport director AK Rai told TOI that it was an unscheduled landing due to medical emergency. TNN
