New PG course in Theni medical college soon

A special team from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, comprising convenor A. Jayabhaskaran, Professor of Anaesthesiology, Coimbatore Medical College, and member A. Paramasivan, Professor of Anaesthesiology, Madurai Medical College, visited Theni Government Medical College at Gandamanur pass and assessed the facilities as the college has proposed to start a postgraduate course in the Department of Anaesthesiology with six seats.

College Dean R.M. Raja Muthiah said that the PG course in Anaesthesiology would be started soon. With commencement of this course, students as well as the public would benefit. With sharp increase in the number of surgeries performed here, PG courses would be helpful in conducting surgeries and for the smooth functioning of the hospital.

Efforts were also on to start new PG courses in the Departments of Medicine, Surgery and Orthopaedics. A PG course had already been started in the Departments of Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the hospital, he added.
