Chennai: SRM University has witnessed an increase in sale of applications for SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) this year.
Addressing mediapersons here recently, SRM University president P Sathyanarayanan said about 1.75 lakh applications were received for SRMJEEE for BTech course, an increase of 40 per cent compared to last year, where about 1.25 lakh applications were received.
SRMJEEE for BTech courses will be held in Delhi, Haryana, Chennai and Sikkim campuses. The exams will commence from 19 to 22 April and on 26 April. The examination will be held in paper and pencil mode and computer based mode.
The exams for BTech course on paper and pencil mode would be held at 154 centres spread across 102 cities, while computer based test for the same will be conducted at 78 centres located across 50 cities.
The online entrance test for B Tech admissions will be held from 19 to 22 April, and the physical tests on 26 April.
On terms of State wise, 16 per cent of applicants came from Andhra Pradesh, 10 per cent from Tamilnadu, nine per cent from Telangana State. Andhra Pradesh stood first with 27,560 applications, followed by Tamilnadu with 22,983 applications and Telangana with 19,706 applications, Sathyanarayanan said.
The results for BTech would be out on 4 May and counselling will be held from 17 May onwards. The academic year for BTech courses would begin by 15 July, while for PG courses it will be at the end of July.
