TIRUPUR: A Man from at Samundipuram here was issued an income certificate with an annual income of `96. However, it was soon corrected.
N Mamundi (50), who runs a salon at Gandhinagar here, had applied for an income certificate online in September. He wanted it to avail of the government welfare for marriages as his daughter’s wedding was fixed for October 30. Mamundi got the certificate on October 12, but there was a mistake — the annual income of his family was given as `96. There was another mistake; his profession was given as a transport-related job. The family was hesitant to speak about the matter as they feared that they may not get the benefit, said Mamundi’s wife, Dhanalakshmi (45). They have two daughters.
“It was a computer error,” said Tirupur North Tahsildar K T  Subramaniam. “If more care was taken while printing, it would not have occurred. Nobody would deliberately give his annual income as `96 and nobody would issue such a certificate. We have called the person concerned and reissued the certificate with `72,000 as his annual family income”
