CHENNAI: Despite assurances and work taken up by Southern Railway, the roofof Chennai Central railway station, which caters to three lakh daily passengers, has started to leak again in the wake of heavy rain in Chennai.

The roof started to leak on Monday the evening. A video shared by a passenger on social media shows that the area on the old concourse and new concourse near the closed food plaza have been covered in water.
A senior official in the Southern Railway said men were working to remove water. However, since the roof would be slippery, they could not be sent up to unclog the drains.

On several occasions, the roof used leak even after a brief spell of rain. It must be noted that the divisional railway manager of Chennai Railway Division had issued strict instructions to ensure that such an issue would not crop up this year.
