Resume duty at government hospitals to get salary: Kiran Bedi to doctors and staff

The vacant post of medical staffs will be filled soon and adequate supply of medicine should be ensured.

Puducherry: A day after sharing the sad state of affairs at government general hospital in Karaikal, Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi warned the government doctors and staff to abstain from practising in other institutions and to get back to the original place of posting immediately to receive the salary for the month of November.

Government doctors, medical staff in Karaikal working in service placement in other institutions will revert to government hospitals and primary health centre in Karaikal.

“Doctors or any other staff drawing a salary from the government hospital, but not working in the hospital will not be receiving the salary till they resume duty at the government hospital”, the Lt Governor said. The government hospital cannot go on like this. People of Karakal are suffering.

Hence all staff of the hospital posted anywhere must report back to duty and no
diversion is allowed, she added. The Lt Governor directed the Medical superintendent of Karaikal government general hospital to follow the orders while drawing and disbursing the salary for the month of November.

The vacant post of medical staffs will be filled soon and adequate supply of medicine should be ensured. An epidemic unit will be created by Jipmer in Karaikal to manage the outbreak of epidemics.
