TN medical lab fined after mosquito breeding source was found on its premises

MADURAI: Revenue officials on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 50, 000 on a private medical lab in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu after a mosquito breeding source was found on its premises.
As dengue is spreading in the state, officials have intensified crackdown on the owners of buildings and vacant lands where sources for mosquito breeding are found.
On Friday morning, a team of officials led by the revenue divisional officer of Devakottai inspected Raj Medical Lab at TT Nagar in Karaikudi and found a mosquito breeding source.

Officials said the proprietor of the lab, identified as Vadivelu, had been asked to pay the fine. He was asked to keep the premises clean.
A notice was served on him seeking an explanation for the poor upkeep of the premises.
