No decision on where TN’s AIIMS will be set up: Union health min

Chennai: The Union health ministry is yet to decide on the location for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences facility in Tamil Nadu under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana , Union health minister J P Nadda said.
In a reply to a parliamentary query, Nadda said the Centre announced 14 new AIIMS hospitals across the country. Of this, six states including Tamil Nadu were allotted a centre each in phase V. While Assam, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh received cabinet approval and outlay approval, locations have been finalisedin Jammu and Kashmir.
The announcement for a 200 acre AIIMS facility in TN at ₹2,000 crore was made in the Union Budget 2015-16. The state submitted a list of five possible locations. In 2016, a central committee of experts visited all five places. “We received at least three queries. We have submitted all the information to the Centre and parliamentary committee,” said health secretary J Radhakrishnan.
