Chengam tahsildar held for taking bribe

She allegedly took Rs. 2,000 for processing a widow pension petition
The sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) trapped a tahsildar while she reportedly took Rs. 2,000 for processing a widow pension petition, in Chengam near Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday.
According to the police, the complainant, Mr. Gopalakrishnan, had submitted a widow pension petition in March on behalf of his sister-in-law Vennila.
However, it is alleged that Renuka, the tahsildar in Chengam demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,000 for processing the same.
Mr. Gopalakrishnan informed the DVAC about the same and they decided to trap her.
On Wednesday around 3 p.m, when he handed over the bribe money, she was trapped. Further investigation is on.
She had joined as the tahsildar eight months ago.
