Dec.31 last date to apply for OCI cards

The Indian government has decided to extend the last date for applying for conversion of Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards to Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cards.
Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said the last date has been extended from June 30 to December 31.
The process will be done free of cost, according to the Indian embassy statement.
The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that the PIO and OCI cards will be merged.
Earlier, the Indian government had extended the deadline from March 31 to June 30 this year.
