Puducherry: As many as 96 MBBS seats remained vacant in three private medical colleges and hospitals in Puducherry after the mop-up counselling conducted by the centralized admission committee (Centac).

Sri Manakula Vinayagar medical college and Sri Venkateswaraa medical college reported vacancy of 37 seats each, while 22 seats remained vacant in Pondicherry institute of medical sciences.

The committee allotted 247 seats under management quota (52 seats were converted from non-resident Indian quota) and 17 seats under NRI quota (including six seats in Indira Gandhi medical college and research institute, IGMC & RI). The committee reserved six seats(three in IGMC & RI and one each in Pims, SMVMC and SVMC). Four students surrendered their seats.

The committee received 148 demand drafts towards fees from the students and handed them over to the colleges concerned. It sought the colleges to submit the vacancy details so that it can send the merit list of students in the ratio of 1:10 to the colleges.
