THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Admission Supervisory Committee for Professional Colleges in Kerala headed by Justice J M James on Thursday cancelled the admission to MBBS seats in three private self- financing medical colleges (SFMCs).

Karuna Medical College, Kannur Medical College and Mount Zion Medical College are the three colleges which face action for lack of transparency in candidate selection.

The James Committee also found that three more colleges-- Travancore Medical College, P K DAS Medical College and Sree Gokulam Medical colleges-- had not furnished the admission details fully. These colleges have been asked to furnish the details on September 15 itself.

According to the order of the Committee, the MBBS admissions carried out by Karuna, Kannur and Mount Zion Medical colleges stand cancelled for flouting all norms and compromising the entire admission procedure.

The medical colleges have been directed to call only online applications, the last date being September 19. The Committee stated that the medical colleges have compromised the entire admission procedure by not complying with the directives issued.

Besides, the colleges also flouted various judgments of the High Court and the Supreme Court.

These are constitutional violations and outright rejection of statutory provisions as well, it said. In the case of Sree Gokulam, PK DAS and Travancore Medical Colleges, the committee said that all the required information was not available.

The principals of these colleges have been directed to ensure that all information were made available on their websites, failing which actions as per provisions of Act XIX of 2006 will be resorted to.

The Committee has asked the respective colleges to furnish details of the total individual online applications received by them for admissions to MBBS for 2016-17 fiscal, total list of eligible applicants, complete list of rejected candidates from online applications with reasons for rejection, list of eligible candidates for admission under management and NRI quota prepared strictly based on NEET rank list.
